  1. petitePARADE and Vogue Bambini kids' fashion week this weekend!

Excited for petitePARADE tomorrow and Sunday! The red carpet will be rolled out and Kids' Fashion Week(end) will begin. I'm particularly looking forward to checking out the Parsons School of Design show at 5:00 on Saturday as well as the 1:00 Bonnie Young show (her clothes are fabulous) and the 5:00 Swarovski crystal show on Sunday! This is the most exciting peek into Spring 13 --as we get to see the clothes in action! We'll report back on the "best of", some of which you'll shop on our racks come spring!

  3. Project Kittenwalk! Get her designer on with The Fashion Class NYC

So I recently read about "The Fashion Class" in midtown, where kids can learn fashion illustration, hand sewing, crafting using sewing machines, draping, accessory design and more. This byproduct of the Project Runway generation seemed like it would be a great way for girls to explore their creativity and personal style.  I signed my own girls up and for the past few weeks have been popping up to midtown every Saturday. The course started with developing an idea for a line, a logo, a mood board and figure drawing, proportions and more. There's even a fashion show & exhibition at the end of the course.

Even if you are already scheduled out, there are also some cool one-off workshops as well - for instance, on October 27, The Fashion Class is hosting an afternoon workshop on Making Your Own Halloween Costume - $100 per child. The costumes look pretty cool - girls choose between a mermaid costume, a gothic princess costume and Cleopatra. Not too spooky but definitely

  4. One to Watch: Big Kids Magazine

Got something in the inbox the other day that looked pretty cool - a new creative arts magazine "for children and their grown ups" called BIG Kids Magazine. The mag is based out of Australia and touts bravery, imagination and generosity- three characteristics I can definitely support! The biannual publication is set to show kids' work and artists' work side by side and the editorial team is child-led.

Supporting the artists community and inspiring creativity in kids are values we share at Babesta -so we're excited! This should be a project worth following! Can't wait to see the first issue. Check out their progress at www.bigkidsmagazine.com.

  6. "Toast to Survivors" - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Pink was the color of choice today at the "Toast to Survivors" luncheon hosted by The Moms (Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein) and actress Kristin Chenoweth. Beverage sponsor Martini (the sparkling wine) made sure that each attendee was offered a pretty pink mini bubbly with a straw (a definite indulgance on a Monday afternoon). Some of the most rousing words were spoken by patient advocate Dee Dee Ricks (who has been named one of Wall Street's Most Powerful Women), who relayed her own battle with the disease and her first hand look at the inequities in the health care system based on socio-economics.At the end of the luncheon, Martini presented a check to Kristin Chenoweth for her own charity Maddie's Corner, which she noted will be allocated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Right
